Sudden Death Of Passaic Police Officer, Mayor's Nephew Brian Lora Stuns Community
The sudden death of a 29-year-old Passaic police officer has spread shock and sadness through multiple communities.
Brian Lora, a Passaic police officer and Belleville resident, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 29, his department said.
"Officer Lora's tenure was marked by unwavering loyalty, exemplary work ethic, fearless commitment to duty, and steadfast adherence to the highest principles of law enforcement," the Passaic Police Department said. "The entire community mourns the loss of Officer Brian Lora, a true exemplar of duty and service."

Sue Driscoll, a Budd Lake resident, died on Friday, March 1 at the age of 39, according to her obituary.
A lifelong Garden Stater, Driscoll was born in Livingston, and also lived in Springfield and Chatham, before graduating from Morristown-Beard School, where she played basketball and field hockey, her obituary reads.

A popular lifelong Hudson Valley former fire chief and catering business owner known for his love of cooking has died at the age of 70.
Ulster County resident Michael B. Hackett, of Highland, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15. He was born on Sunday, June 7, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Francis and the late Rita (McGrath) Hackett, according to his obituary.

The former leader of a Boston school who admitted to using nearly $40,000 set aside for the children's education on personal expenses and tropical vacations will not go to prison, but she must repay the money, authorities said.
Naia Wilson, 60, of Mattapan, was sentenced on Tuesday, Jan. 9, to 90 days of home confinement, two years of probation, 160 hours of community service, and a $25,000 fine, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. She must also repay the $38,806 she took from Boston Public Schools.
